From 1999 to mid-2012, he worked as an agricultural journalist, including with Agrowon and other leading dailies.
Since mid-2012, he has worked as an agricultural commodity market advisor, guiding agri-corporates, farmer producer companies, startups and NGOs on commodity prices and market trends.
Since 2021, Chavan participates in the Reserve Bank of India’s pre-policy consultations as an agricultural sectoral expert on the onion sector.
In 2014, his book Bandhawarcha Udyojak was published by Sakaal Publications and has since gone through eight editions.
