Why Agavart
The name Agavart brings together a few ideas. “Ag” echoes the agora, the ancient marketplace and public square where trade, economy and public life met, and it also carries older roots in agriculture, the first economy of all. “Avart” comes from the idea of avart, or cycles and recurring patterns. Markets, economies, politics, weather and seasons all move in cycles. Agavart exists to read those cycles, explain what drives them, and bring that understanding within reach of as many people as possible.
Who is behind Agavart
Agavart is founded and curated by Deepak Chavan, its Founder and Market Expert, based in India, with more than 27 years in commodity markets. He does not write the analysis himself. Each piece begins with an official report or primary dataset that he sources, reads from several angles, compares and then verifies against the original before it is approved for publication. His role is sourcing, curation and review. His journalism career began in February 1999, when he joined the editorial departments of Deshdoot and Lokmat in Nashik district. In April 2005, he joined Agrowon in Pune as a founding editorial team member, where he worked until May 2012, before moving into independent market analysis and advisory work. He wrote Bandhawarcha Udyojak, published by Sakaal Publications, which has gone through eight editions.
We are transparent about how this work is produced. AI tools assist with drafting, language and analysis, working from the official sources Deepak selects. The sourcing, verification and final editorial review remain his own.
