US Jobs, June 2026: Payrolls Up 57,000, Unemployment at 4.2 Per Cent
US nonfarm payrolls rose 57,000 in June and the unemployment rate held at 4.2 per cent, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. Employment continued to trend up in professional and business services, social assistance and health care, while leisure and hospitality shed 61,000 jobs on weaker than usual seasonal hiring. April and May payrolls were revised down by a combined 74,000. Average hourly earnings rose 0.3 per cent to $37.64, up 3.5 per cent over the year, and labour force participation slipped to 61.5 per cent. Next release: August 7, 2026.
